Zodiac Makes a Killing on DVD

Zodiac overshadowed fellow rookie The Number 23 on the DVD sales chart, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The Number 23, however, opened at No. 1 on Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart for the week ended July 29, generating an estimated $6.9 million in revenue compared with $6.7 million for Zodiac.

The two thrillers sent the previous week’s top seller and renter, Premonition, to No. 3 on both charts.

Season 10 set of “Stargate SG-1” debuted at No. 5 on the sales chart, while the Season 2 set of “Weeds” bowed at No. 7.

On the high-definition disc front, The Bourne Identity toppled longtime incumbent “Planet Earth: The Complete Collection” as the No. 1 HD DVD seller, although “Planet Earth” took over the top spot from Premonition on the Blu-ray Disc chart.
