April 18, 2017: Blu-ray, Digital HD & DVD This Week

Check out clips from Sleepless and Split, both on Blu-ray and DVD this week

Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top titles arriving on Blu-ray, Digital HD and DVD this week. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, catalogue films and television collections hitting shelves and/or VOD beginning Tuesday, April 18, 2017.

We’re kicking the week off with a trio of exclusive clips. In the top player, you can go behind the scenes of the action-thriller Sleepless, starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan. Then, just beneath that, you can pay a visit to the set of M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, starring James McAvoy. Finally, in the bottom player, you can explore Stephen Gaghan’s bizarre true story with a look at Gold, starring Matthew McConaughey.

Other recent big screen releases hitting Blu-ray and DVD this week include the McDonald’s “origin story” The Founder (starring Michael Keaton) and Gregori Viens’ indie comedy Punching Henry.

Teen Titans: The Judas Contract makes a debut direct to Blu-ray and DVD this week. The DC Comics animated feature adapts the early 1980s storyline of the same name. The week also brings home family fare in the animated Arctic Adventure on Frozen Pond and the live-action films A Cowgirl’s Story and Bigger, Fatter Liar (an in-name-only sequel to 2002’s Big Fat Liar).

A League of Their Own gets a 25th anniversary re-release this week, while Warner Archive brings another pair of catalogue titles to HD. Look for Burt Kennedy’s 1965 western comedy The Rounders and for Delmer Daves’ 1963 drama Spencer’s Mountain, starring Henry Fonda and Maureen O’Hara.

Shout! Factory‘s Scream Factory label delivers a special edition of the 1995 horror anthology Tales from the Hood, while the Shout! Select line releases Volker Schlöndorff’s 1990 adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

The Criterion Collection brings to Blu-ray and DVD this week two very different titles. George Stevens’ 1942 romantic comedy Woman of the Year was the first to team Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. Wim Wenders’ 1999 documentary Buena Vista Social Club, meanwhile, explores the music of Cuba.

Hawaii Five-O gets a complete series collection on DVD this week, collecting 278 episodes across 12 seasons. That’s sadly still without the infamous 1970 “Bored, She Hung Herself” episode that was only ever seen in its initial broadcast. The week also brings to Blu-ray and DVD the second season of Syfy‘s Killjoys.

Other recent theatrical titles hitting Digital HD this week include A Dog’s Purpose and Rings.
