Two of the best reviewed films this year come home November 22 and they couldn’t be more different. Hell or High Water, directed by David Mackenzie, offers a contemporary western starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges. You can take a look at a behind-the-scenes featurette that explores Hell or High Water‘s shooting locations in the player below.

Kubo and the Two Strings, meanwhile, offers LAIKA’s latest, a stop-motion fantasy adventure that is likely to endure for years and years to come. You can also collect the complete LAIKA collection — Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo and the Two Strings — in one fell swoop with the The Ultimate Laika Collection. You can take a look behind the scenes of the Travis Knight film in the second player down. There, you’ll find a new featurette featuring actor George Takei.

Other recent big-screen releases coming home November 22 include the Jason Statham action franchise sequel The Mechanic: Resurrection and the Todd Phillips-helmed true story War Dogs, starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller. There’s also the boxing drama Hands of Stone (starring Edgar Ramirez and Robert De Niro), the Pierce Brosnan-led home invasion thriller I.T. and Kevin Smith‘s bizarre comedy Yoga Hosers.

Hitting DVD only are a pair of excellent documentaries. Werner Herzog explores the rapid growth of technology in Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected World, while Nicole Lucas Haimes’ Chicken People explores the world of competitive chicken breeders.

Warner Archive this week brings to Blu-ray Stanley Donen’s 1955 Gene Kelly musical, It’s Always Fair Weather.

Arriving just in the for the holidays, the complete Hunger Games series comes to Ultra-HD with a 4K collection of all four films.

The Criterion Collection has two all new additions this week. First up is a definitive take on Marlon Brando’s sole directorial work, the 1961 western One Eyed Jacks. Then the popular label delivers a Blu-ray edition of Noah Baumbach’s 2005 family drama The Squid and the Whale.

Flicker Alley has its own pair of treats for cinephiles with the latest additions to their popular Cinerama lineup. Look out for 1963’s Best of Cinerama and 1966’s Cinerama’s Russian Adventure, both lovingly restored and presented in a Smilebox format.

November 22 sees the coming of the C.H.U.D.s as both the 1984 cult classic and its bizarre 1989 sequel C.H.U.D. II – Bud the Chud make their Blu-ray debuts. C.H.U.D. (That’s Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller) gets the HD treatment from Arrow Films, while the sequel arrives via Lionsgate‘s fantastic Vestron Video Collector’s series. Also in the Vestron series is another horror sequel, Return of the Living Dead 3. You can take a look at one of that film’s special features in the third player below. Watch as Melinda Clarke recalls filming the 1993 zombie thriller.

Other horror titles coming home November 22 include the Scream Factory’s release of both the recent horror thriller Intruder and of David Cronenberg’s early horror entry, Rabid. The latter arrives in a full-fledged special edition, packed with archival and newly created bonus material.

Shout! Factory also continues their Shout Select line with William Friedkin’s To Live and Die in L.A. The 1985 action thriller gets the collector’s edition treatment and the film itself is transfered from a 4K scan of the original negative, supervised by Friedkin himself.

It’s a quiet week for small screen titles, but November 22 does see the release of Shout! Factory‘s latest Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD set. MST3K XXXVII means that nearly every episode of the sci-fi comedy hit has come to home video in one format or another. Will Shout pull off the impossible and get the rights to some of the holdout episodes? They’ve proven remarkably good at making the effort.

Also arriving on DVD is the Texas RisingSons of Liberty double feature, collecting two of HISTORY‘s most popular miniseries.

The Digital HD slate this week brings home Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s latest animated hit, The Secret Life of Pets. Joining it is the animated adventure The Wild Life and the HBO series High Maintenance. HBO’s Quarry, meanwhile, hits Digital HD Monday, November 28.
