The Star Wars News Roundup – 10.3.14

The purpose of this roundup is to put the highlights of all things Star Wars from the last week in one location. If you read this each week, you should be able to converse fluently with any Star Wars fan on everything from the latest Star Wars: Episode VII developments to the latest toys. And maybe you’ll even share with them something that they might have missed.

Let’s get to it!

Episode VII News and Rumors

This week, MakingStarWars.Net apparently got their hands on a batch of pre-production art and/or photos and then went to town posting spoilers. While a lot of the details seem to be their interpretations of what they were seeing, they are probably accurate as far as the content of the pictures. And, unfortunately, they may have revealed the “Luke, I Am Your Father” moment of the new film.

Should you read them? Well, some of them will be officially spoiled before the film in LEGO toys, the trailer, the novelization, the comic books, the making-of books, the Hasbro toys, etc etc etc. So you may not be spoiling anything. And even if you do avoid them, somebody will probably accidentally spoil it for you in a Twitter headline or general conversation. So this is a no-win situation. Pandora’s box has been opened, but if you do want to stay spoiler-free, skip ahead:

More pictures continued to leak this past week, including new shots of the chrome trooper and a piece of production art showing a duel:

Apparently there was some other filming that took place and Total Geeks got a summary of what was filmed. Plus some additional plot rumors surfaced at Jedi News:

In an unexpected move, both John Boyega and Daisy Ridley deleted their Twitter accounts this past week. It’s a shame because their enthusiasm and sheer joy at filming “Episode VII” was a lot of fun to see. Plus they kept interest in E”episode VII” up without leaking any details. According to /Film, Lucasfilm denies making them remove the accounts.

happy Saturday folks. I am bowing out of twitter. I really appreciate all the support thus far and hope you LOVE the film!

it has been and continues to be an INCREDIBLE experience with the most amazing group of people, cast and crew. Big Star Wars love. #MTFBWY x

Empire strikes back – again – in ‘Star Wars Rebels’

Empire Online – Exclusive: Simon Kinberg Talks Star Wars Rebels

The show is set half a decade before A New Hope, meaning Kinberg “always felt it would lead into IV and potentially set up characters you might not meet until V, or VI, or even VII, but the notion was that this would stand alone from Episode VII. That doesn’t mean that we can’t introduce Easter eggs that will pay off in VII, VIII, IX.”

Empire attempted its best Jedi mind trick to glean more details – particularly to learn whether main Rebels villain The Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs) will pop up in Episode VII… Alas, secrecy still reigns: “On Star Wars I get a Force Choke when I start saying things I shouldn’t say.”

What we do know is that The Inquisitor is “less of a believer in the Empire and the cause of the Empire than perhaps Darth Vader, and more of a hunting dog.” So not a Sith, per se? “I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say about that, but no, per se.”
