Ocean's Thirteen is a great improvement over the first sequel, which was one of the biggest disappointments of 2004. It's more like the first one, which is why it was fun, exciting, suspenseful, and full of twists and turns. A grand return for Steven Soderbergh and his A-list cast. These kinds of films are the reason we would like to see more sequels.

I was actually disappointed by this sequel. Although, I think it was very well acted, very well directed, and had a fun soundtrack, I think this film's fault lies within the script. I can understand that many people didn't appreciate Ocean's 12, but I was at least pleased with the story and the consistency of non-stop jokes and tricks. My only problems with the second film were small minute things that were in or left out of the story. However, the problem with Ocean's 13 wasn't small things that bugged me, but the story as a whole. There were fewer gags, less tricks, less twists and this time the film didn't try to con the audience. It seemed pretty straight forward to me all the way through. There is one point in the climax where you're surprised, but really you're not. You kind of knew what was going on.
Not to be completely negative, I think the cast in this movie was amazing. It was great to see Al Pacino not type casted into another role where he's screaming. The danger of his character is purely represented by his vicious dialogue and not his actions. It's fantastic to see Ellen Barkin again and she looks amazing for a woman of her age. Soderbergh proves himself again as a creative director where he avoids redundancy and picks up and drops off new styles with every movie.
I will admit that I enjoyed this movie even though I wasn't laughing as hard or found myself at the edge my seat like I did in the previous two. I wouldn't recommend to my friends to pay $9 to see this. This is definitely a DVD purchase. I'll be satisfied when this film is finally released so I can buy all three in a package, hopefully on Blu-ray.
